Report: Pat White makes Redskins 53-man roster Posted by Mike Florio on August 31, 2013, 4:53 PM EDT AP It’s a shame that former West Virginia quarterback Pat White has a job in the NFL, because I just got home from the Mountaineers’ first game of the season — and we could use him in Morgantown. Apparently, they can use him in D.C. Chick Hernandez of CSNWashington reports that White has made the Redskins’ 53-man roster. It’s a surprising development for a guy who was out of football for three full seasons. The second-round pick in the 2009 draft launched a comeback attempt in January, drew some interest, signed with the Redskins, dropped his concussion lawsuit, and never looked back. The Dolphins have done plenty of looking back regarding the decision to use the 42nd overall selection on White, whose rookie season ended with a pop from Steelers cornerback Ike Taylor and who was cut during the following training camp. Former Dolphins V.P. of football operations Bill Parcells has expressed regret for making White the pick, explaining that the Dolphins “violated our principles” by drafting a quarterback based largely on the fact that he was a great college player. Per a league source, indications currently are that quarterback Rex Grossman also has a spot on the 53-man roster. If both survive the cut to 53, either could still be dumped in the coming days, when the bottom of every roster churns. Though it’s not unprecedented for a team to carry four quarterbacks on the roster, it doesn’t happen often.
