Report back session for Slovo Park Section A and B DATE: (26 and 25)/08/2013 VENUE: Slovo Park Proposed Agenda Opening and Welcome Purpose of the meeting Slovo Park Case Carin proposal and dolomite strategy Engagements Way forward Closure Opening and welcome The meeting was opened by the prayer on that Block, in fact the community requested that we pray before we commence with the meeting Developing an upgrading alternative process let by the community This is the reflections of both Block A and B Attendance for both block is going be attach Slovo Park Case It was reported that there were four busses paid and ready for date case to be secured That, everything meeting which we are having has to do with our community case That, our agreement with SERI is that, the case has to commence first week of September That, SERI has appointed attorney to deal with Case Carin Proposal and dolomite It was reported that Professor Carin Combrick from University of Pretoria, has volunteered her services in helping us in regard to the upgrade of Slovo Park That she has proposed that the leadership and the community needs to come to terms with the fact that, we are residing on a dolomitic land That the only thing which we are waiting for, relating to the case is her expert affidavits which will strengthen our case and also assist in dealing with the concerns which was raised by government for some time now That we will need to align our community sites so that they are in line to Sands law or above 350 square meters That where we need to cut and move shacks so that development takes here, in Slovo Park, that needs to happen cohesively without debate That those who have bigger site must share with those having sites bellow or align the sites so that we all have (15 by 25) or larger That Carins team has also tasked Mfundo as the Civil Engineer to look a cheaper means of servicing the area in line with the kind of land that we told we are residing That all the processes needs to be aligned to the strengthening of community That core to the case is the issue of services That the loop holes from the City of Johannesburg is much as they have said we are on dolomite land, they have neglected servicing the area, which has given the community good to bad in regard to the dolomite land That the issue of the City putting in VIP toilets which we need to put water in them before they are drained was raised as an issue of concern though it strengthens our community case That we need to push the City to put in services for the community so that the dangers aligned to the community does not intensify It was indicated that due date for all this engagement and bottom up approach shall be end of the month It was reported that Motebang has been tasked to by CORC to assist with giving the community a technical support in relation to the upgrading and reblocking process of the community Engagement and issue of concern That for those who has bought the sites large as they were or small as they were, what are we going to do to them That in cases where a yards is cutting the shacks what is the responsibility of the committee in terms of the material, (zincs and nails) It requested that we need to commit as to when does the commencement happen practically on the ground Responds On selling of the stands, the leadership indicated that all of us are currently living on the land of the City or Provincial government, that guided by the principles of the previous leadership, sites should not be sold here, but rather the shacks of buildings of the seller are the once to sold. That this processes will lead the development of the area and there shall no negotiation but we all need to implement It was reported that the Block Committees shall commence as early tomorrow in terms of measuring and further engaging the other blocks Recommendation from a Stakeholders Forum and analysis of the Block A and B and strategically approach towards the implementation of the project Attended SPCDF 6 Siyaphambili Business Forum (2) Siyaphabili 2 (2) Pastors Forum (Apology) Sector Crime Forum (no apology) Date: 27/08/13 at 18hrs Slovo Park Studio Verification of the sites as the meeting of Block A 12 plus 12 has been confirm in block A Though there were only 8 sites targeted for reblocking on first section of the Block, we to redo the whole section to the space in between the targeted area That we need to increase all the 24 sites to 15,6 by 25 in order to accommodate all of the community equally in that block Packing of the sites has started will continue tomorrow That the measurement went well though it started late due access to the wheel and street naming meeting That, Mapara, Naledi, Mme Maputsonyane and Edward will lead the measuring team, every Block Committee needs to send forward a person to form part of the measuring per Block They will meet on site tomorrow at 10 am Mohau, Lerato, Dan, Bucs, Zanele and Block Committee members will deal community engagements block public meetings at 17hrs daily The targeted due date for completion of the project needs to be on the 6/09/13 or 07/09/13 That the ISN and the Federation will add more manpower on the processes one the budget has been approved That Thebilihle needs to brought in to learn from the process so that they can copy the strategy back into their Settlement faced with the challenges of dolomite That we will need to have common agenda discussed in all the Blocks That block public meetings seems to be more effective than the public in kind of the process That block public meeting will be used to assist the street naming processes and also giving suitable name to the community That PLANACT is willing to assist the community in signage of all the streets and avenues one our map with Names has been submitted That the SPCDF needs to create a consent form just as a proof that a proper interaction with the community members indeed took place Stakeholders meeting ended at 19:40 and measuring 18:30 just prior to stakeholders meeting Current support needed Motebang to help collect one more measuring wheel from the HADEBE ENGINEERING COMPANY assisting the community in designing Service Map. When Mapara comes and find that you donot have a fish in hand while measuring then you will have to began from scratch so that your work straight.
