Report from Goodwill Ambassador of youth for Zimbabwe Damasco Mutsikadowo Today we met our dad, an elderly man who lives in a shack. The 72yr old man of Malawian origin resident in Zimbabwe has been using this heap of plastic as his home since 1998.It was so touching to discover that for 16 years the old man who uses crutches to stand and walk has used this small plastic and stick structure not even big enough for one person, let alone fit for habitation as his bathing room and bedroom. Our small chat with the vibrant and hopeful elderly man revealed that he survives on handouts from wellwishers, passersby and some women from the nearby vegetable market. His kitchen comprises of about four small rusty pots and a small cooking area marked with ashes and three bricks just in front of his home. He revealed that he is in need of shelter, clothes, food and clean water. We blessed him today with blankets and foodstuffs which he received joyously. As Zimbabwean youths we are planning on relocating our dad to a safer home especially now with the winter season that has just begun. More to come soon.We encourage all youth to look after the elderly.
