Report on Dorset A v Hereford A Consolation Cup Preliminary Round Dorset and Hereford travelled to Northampton to play out their preliminary round of the ICC consolation cup the winners assured of a Quarter Final against Buckinghamshire. The match started with Hereford winning the First session 5-3 with Dorsets only winning one of the pairs that of Dawn Broad and Eugene Balbinski. Dorset fought back in the Second session taking it 5-3, by winning both Fours by the slenderest of margins and drawing one of the Triples. The score at half way was 8-8 but with Hereford well up on shot difference in three of the disciplines Dorset had it all to do. Colin Mills won his Single to give Dorset another 2 points and a remarkable turn around in the Pairs saw Dorset win both turning a minus 5 shot difference into a plus 8 to take the bonus points. Dorset now led 16-12 going into the Final session needing 5 points to assure victory. Marie Neale, Sally Burton and Peter Hawkins bagged the first 2 winning their Triple 12-7, with the Fours still playing Dorset needed to hold their slender advantage from the morning play and win one of the games. In the end both the Dorset Fours thrashed their opposite numbers. The Four of Ron Lockyer, Karen Ellis, Hazel Thomas and Larry House winning 22-1 and the Four of Bobbie Whitburn, George Musselwhite, Graham Rabbetts and Joan Collier winning 18-4 including a true HOT Shot. Congratulations to the A Team Well Done
