Report on Mohajir Republican Army is correct: Nisar ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Friday said the report on the existence of Mohajir Republican Army (MRA) was correct but it was not to be presented to the Supreme Court (SC). He announced in the National Assembly (NA) the withdrawal of the report in response to the concerns raised by the MQM legislator Khawaja Sohail Mansur. Nisar told the House that the report was of administrative and intelligence nature. “It is not the kind of report which should be submitted to the SC,” he said adding that he had written to the SC about its withdrawal. He said it was true that the name of Mohajir Republican Army was mentioned in an administrative meeting but no permission was given to submit the report to the apex court.Nisar said the news regarding the existence of the Mohajir Republican Army has been published in newspapers but he was not aware of it. “The government is withdrawing the report after tendering an apology,” he said. In the same vein, Nisar said he had not stated that the report was wrong.About the firing incident on the vehicle of Sheikh Rashid Ahmad, the minister said an investigation was underway and he was not satisfied with the initial report of the police. “The matter will be probed thoroughly,” he maintained. Karachi Five people, including two activists of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, were gunned down in the city, police said on Friday. MQM men shot dead Thirty-five-year-old Mazhar alias Bhola, an MQM activist, was shot dead in Gulshan-e-Bihar, Orangi Town. Pakistan Bazaar SHO Basheer Ahmed said Mazhar was present near Bihar Chowk in the afternoon when two men riding a motorcycle fired gunshots at him and escaped. Mazhar was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The SHO said Mazhar was shot thrice in the head and chest with a 9mm pistol. Following the murder, some men fired gunshots in the air in Gulshan-e-Bihar. Separately, another MQM activist was gunned down near Ghausia Chowk in Mominabad on Thursday night. Mominabad SHO Ahmed Butt said 23-year-old Mohammad Ejaz, a resident of Sector-10, Hanifabad, Orangi Town and a mechanical engineer at a shop in SITE, was present near his house when four men riding two motorcycles shot him. Ejaz died during treatment at the ASH. The SHO said Ejaz had suffered two bullet wounds to the face. He added that the attackers had used a 9mm pistol. Dual murder Two men were murdered near Allah Waris Chowk in Pakistan Bazaar. Pakistan Bazaar Sub Divisional Police Officer Faisal Noor said two men on a motorcycle opened fire on Hasibur Rehman and Mohammed Akhtar in the afternoon. The two men suffered multiple bullet wound and were taken to the ASH where they expired. The police officer said a 9mm pistol was used to attack the two men. Killing in Peerabad A labourer was killed in Qasba Colony, Kati Pahari, Peerabad. Peerabad SHO Abdul Moeed said Naseeb Zada, a resident of Qasba Colony, was gunned down by two men riding a motorcycle in the afternoon. “Policemen patrolling the area in a van saw the incident chased the fleeing attackers,” the SHO added. “After a shootout, the police arrested one of them, Wali Jaan, while the other escaped.” Naseeb Zada was taken to the ASH where he expired.
