Report on current Trail Conditions, Cb300: cold today, -24 F in am, warming to -20F. The trail is in, has set up in the cold weather, and is hard. All of the trail is currently marked, except for the stretch between Glennallen and Chistochina. There is not a lot of snow, some places are rough. The Upper Gakona River crossing is still open and about 4 feet deep. There is a lot of glaciation along trail, where ground seepage has frozen. If it stays cold, glaciation should remain dry. Fresh snow fall before the race will increase water seepage on these areas. Generally, trail conditions are looking good, and fast, for this years race.
