Reporter Pirry did a special on the region I work in, La Guajira- Colombia, and he discusses the reasons why there are so many Wayuu indigenous children dying of malnutrition and its complications. 1/3 children suffer from moderate to severe malnutrition. The State is arguably the richest State in Colombia when it comes to natural resources such as coal and gas, but the money is NOT being distributed to those in need. Dark political schemes and corruption impede the delivery of health on all levels. These images of severely malnourished children and animals are what I see every day in the villages. I wish there is more awareness about the neglect of the Wayuu children and the lack of human rights.
