Reports are emerging that Manchester City may be in for 22 year - TopicsExpress

Reports are emerging that Manchester City may be in for 22 year old Atlético Madrid midfielder Koke. The Spanish midfielder reportedly has a release clause in the region of £47 million, so this would presumably be one of the few large signings City will make in the near future. Seen as a longterm replacement for Yaya Toure, it would surely be better to make a move in January, purely to bed him in while Toure is away with international duty in the African Cup of Nations. Koke certainly ticks some of the major boxes Manchester City need in a replacement for Toure, his range of passing and attacking intent would make him a welcome addition to City’s midfield that occasionally looks slightly bereft of ideas when faced with two solid banks of four from the opposition. However, £47 million is a hell of a lot of money for a player who doesn’t score too many goals. Obviously goal scoring isn’t the only measure of a player, but when you are supposedly replacing a player such as Toure who contributes more than his fair share goals are definitely preferable. If Manchester City are willing to spend that kind of money in central midfield, there are more options out there. Pogba is the name on many fans lips, and he is definitely more in the mould of Yaya Toure in his physical play, and he certainly has a shot on him. He’d probably go for a bit more, but would probably prove worth it in the long run.
