Reports released by the USDA and the Department of Labor continue to raise questions about the “progressive policies” supposedly included in the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP). The reports conclude that while the TPP will alter US GDP by exactly 0.00%, Vietnam, cited by the DOL as one of the world’s worst violators of child and forced labor laws in the garment industry, is set to gain the most from the deal. Any future US trade deals should benefit employers who respect the rights of their workers, not corporations that profit off of child labor and violate international human rights.
