Reports say NDC Youth group calling itself the Concerned NDC youth and Youth of Jirapa District in the Upper West region have demonstrated against their DCE, Bernard Possin for allegedly being insensitive to the needs of the people in the district. The group alleges that the DCE’s love for gambling could corrupt the young ones in the district. According to the angry youth, the DCE’s utterances are not encouraging for the party’s chances in the next election. They are therefore calling on President John Mills to sack him. The group according to reports on Thursday, marched through the principal streets of Jirapa in protest of the DCE’s conduct. Spokesperson for the Group Ishmael Sam said the DCE has demonstrated by all his deeds that he is incompetent. ‘‘We are petitioning the President for the removal of the DCE, and we are citing case such as incompetence. He is a ‘gambleholic’. He takes pride in gambling and this affects the morals of the youth. And we are saying that for anybody to be appointed into any position you should be of high moral standing and that is stated clearly in the constitution. This man says gambling is his hobby and that he doesn’t need votes. He said we have not appointed him and that it was his hard work that got him the appointment from the President. ‘‘He is arrogant and he is going around telling students that their parents should be responsible for the payment of their school fees but when a lady employee under her(who also has a parent) said she was going to do her Masters at UDS, he gave her a huge contract worth GH¢36 million to pursue that course and we think that is hypocrisy at its best’’ he alleged’’.
