We are writing to you regarding the defamatory material published on your client’s website, ord-ua, for which Snel Internet Services B.V. is acting as the Hosting Service Provider of the domain name (IP address: 89.207.130.33). The Internet domain ord-ua has published false and defamatory statements concerning our client Mr. Rinat Akhmetov: 1) ord-ua/2014/03/19/avtonomna-respublika-lyuks/?lpage=1 “…пам’ятаю Ріната рудим відморозком, який приїздив на «стрілки» з ланцюгом у руці, наводячи жах на численних свідків його подвигів. Власне, і Ахатя Брагіна, засновника організованого злочинного угруповання «Люкс», відомого під кримінальним прізвиськом «Алік Грек», 15 жовтня 1995 року замочили не в останню чергу через жорстокість Ріната – найближчого соратника скаженого Грека. Чимало замахів було й на самого Ахметова (особливо пам’ятна стрілянина по його автомобілю з гранатомета), однак йому вдалось не тільки вижити в буремні 90-ті, але й перетворити Донецьку область на кримінальний анклав, який впродовж шести років – з 1999 по 2005 – взагалі перебував у складі України суто номінально.” 2) ord-ua/2012/04/25/novyij-dyadka-dlya-printsa-mishanya-kosoj-vmesto-yuryi-enakievskogo/ “Бандитствовал вместе с Ахатем Брагиным, Ренатом Ахметовым и прочими донецкими персонажами. В народе и книге “Донецкая мафия” Михаила Ляшко еще называют Мишей Косым и приписывают ему, уже в современном Донецке, контроль над игорными заведениями города и руководство боевиками Ахметова. Ведь очередная его привязка к криминалу прошлых лет показывает, насколько недалеко он ушел от того смутного времени, когда подносил карты “Грекам”, “Сучкам” и ”Картавым”. Он тащит свое темное прошлое с собой, разрушая создаваемый его дорогостоящими пиарщиками имидж европейского бизнесмена, “смотрящего в будущее”. Может и “смотрящий”, но…” 3) ord-ua/2012/08/10/teni-iz-proshlogo-ili-strahi-ahmetova/?lpage=1 “Кстати, в Штатах Ахметов с угольной темой и покупкой американских шахт не вписался в местные «схемы» — бизнес не пошел… Потому как не любят там непоняток с темным прошлым.” 4) ord-ua/2011/12/15/prutnik-ustal-pryigat-za-bananom-ministra-inostrannyih-del-iz-nego-ne-vyishlo---pridetsya- perekvalifitsirovatsya-v-upravdomyi/ “Ахметов лишь приступал к отмыванию своего бизнеса и личного имиджа от пятен ОПГ «Люкс».” These unsupported and untrue allegations of criminal activity and association have caused and continue to cause substantial harm to our client’s personal and business reputation and remain publicly accessible at ord-ua/2014/03/19/avtonomna-respublika-lyuks/?lpage=1 ord-ua/2012/04/25/novyij-dyadka-dlya-printsa-mishanya-kosoj-vmesto-yuryi-enakievskogo/ ord-ua/2012/08/10/teni-iz-proshlogo-ili-strahi-ahmetova/?lpage=1 ord-ua/2011/12/15/prutnik-ustal-pryigat-za-bananom-ministra-inostrannyih-del-iz-nego-ne-vyishlo---pridetsya-perekvalifitsirovatsya-v-upravdomyi/ Numerous publications and media outlets throughout Europe and North America (such as, Daily Mail, Le Figaro, Kyiv Post, Neue Zuricher Zeitung, MSN Canada/Microsoft Canada, and Newsweek Polska) have retracted, corrected or removed similar false and defamatory statements concerning Mr. Akhmetov, due in large part to our exhaustive background investigation of him and these allegations. As the retractions and apologies make clear, the publishers and authors have acknowledged that their claims – similar to those in the articles you and your client ord-ua continue to publish – lack any factual support. Accordingly, on behalf of Mr. Akhmetov, we must demand that Snel Internet Services B.V.: (1) immediately remove and disable access to the above material from the publicly accessible Internet domain (ord-ua) for which you are acting as the Hosting Service Provider by April 1, 2014; and (2) take all necessary steps to prevent further publication of any other false and defamatory statements concerning Mr. Akhmetov.
