Repost from May 18, 2013: International Museum Day is today, Saturday, May 18th. We have the Hall of Fame and other exhibits, but imagine a large Rocky Mount Museum for tourists to see everything under one roof. Walk down Main Street and see the opportunities for renovating a building to become a Rocky Mount Museum. I like the 3-story building on the corner of NW Main and Sunset. It use to be a department store. It might be designated for another use, but 3-stories provides plenty of space and separation for various exhibitions. Certain customers have told us there are many Rocky Mount households that contain enormous amounts of memorabilia and artifacts, enough to fill a museum. The first floor would be perfect for a RM Train Museum, and leave plenty of space to highlight our Agricultural and Textile Industries. Plus existing exhibits that highlight our sports, entertainment and professional legends. - Hilarie
