Reposting a great idea: Hey, Call Sen Tom Dempsey!!!! Subject: CALL TO ACTION - ASK SEN. TOM DEMPSEY TO REMOVE DAVID PEARCE AS CHAIRMAN OF THE SENATE EDUCATION COMMITTEE Stacy Shore sent the email below out on Thursday morning. I cant disagree with anything she has said. When I called I said I was proud that one of the moms who has been involved in the exposure of and fight against Common Core State Standards took it upon herself to devise a plan of action regarding requesting that Sen. Dempsey appoint a new chairman of the Senate Education Committee - someone who wouldnt be in lock step with DESE, the MNEA and the Governor but who would align his efforts according to the Missouri Republican platform and recent resolutions (both state and national) opposing Common Core State Standards and work towards local control of school districts. It makes sense for the Republican leaders in the Missouri General Assembly such as the President Pro Tem, the Majority Floor Leader and the chairmen of the individual committees to at least uphold the Missouri Republican platform and stated Republican principles such as local control and limited government. P.S. CWA of Missouri held seven informational meetings on Common Core State Standards in the Senate District 21, the district Sen. Pearce represents. He couldnt make any one of the meetings. We did have state representatives come out and not only show up at the meeting but STAY for the whole presentation. Our thanks and respect go to Reps. Casey Guernsey, Rep. Joe Don McGaugh, Rep. Stanley Cox, Rep. Dean Dohrman and Rep. Glen Kolkmeyer for attending one of our meetings to learn about the other side of Common Core State Standards. Sen. Tom Dempsey 201 W Capitol Ave., Rm. 433 Jefferson City, MO 65101 (573) 751-1141 FAX: (573) 522-3383 [email protected] District Staff District Office: PO Box 62St. Peters, MO 63376 (636) 294-2526 Stacy Shore, mom, wrote: Dear Friends, Last week David Pearce, the head of the education committee in the senate (a Republican), put out a press release. For Immediate Release: Oct. 25, 2013 Contact: Matt Michelson (573) 751 - 2272 Senator David Pearce Supports Governors Education Plans JEFFERSON CITY — This week, Sen. David Pearce, R-Warrensburg, is looking forward to future fiscal planning for both public K-12 and higher education in Missouri, as the governor has stated that he would like to see all levels of education in this state fully funded by the time he leaves office in January 2017. senate.mo.gov/media/13info/pearce/releases/102513EducationFunding.htm Understand that as the chair of the Senate Education Committee, David Pearces agenda reflects where we are potentially headed as a state in education. I will also ask for you to remember what he did to kill SB210 in a deliberate, and single handed way due to his support of Common Core. (SB210 was a bill to put Common Core on hold until DESE went into each district in Missouri and answered questions of the citizens, and offered a cost analysis to each district as to what CC would cost their community). David Pearce killed that bill after it came out of the house with bi partisan support. He boldly killed the accountability that so many Missourians and his peers sought when it came to the education of the children in Missouri and the path we are headed down, and he revealed his allegiance to the Governors plans for education in our state at that moment. Do we want any of our elected officials to push for more tax dollars to continue the implementation of CC? NO, we dont. We want to put a halt to it. But, David Pearce is lock step with your Governor and his agenda for education. If you dont agree, make a call today. This is why I email you this morning. You all ask what can I do? Well, here is a call to action. PLEASE take the time to call Senator Tom Dempseys office (He is the leader of the senate in Missouri) and request that David Pearce be removed as the chair of the Education Committee in the Senate. We do not believe in Common Core, and the way the Governor signed onto those standards before they were even written without the consent of the legislature. David Pearce apparently does. PLEASE, PLEASE make the time to make the phone call to Dempseys office and let him know we want someone other than Pearce as the chair of education committee in the senate. It does not matter if he is your senator. He should not sit in that place of authority, especially when you realize that the Republican National Committee denounced Common Core as a part of their party platform in April of this year. Pearce needs to reflect the will of the party he represents, not his own agenda that matches the Governor. THE GOVERNOR SOLD OUT THE CHILDREN AND TAX PAYERS OF MISSOURI WHEN HE SIGNED US ON TO COMMON CORE! PLEASE make the call this morning. Tom Dempseys numbers are below. Please forward this to the contacts in your email list also. You can make a difference. You just have to take the time to make a call every now and then.
