Reposting a reply of mine to some idiot because there are way too many lacking a FUNDAMENTAL understanding of how America was designed, and is supposed, to work: Eduardo Barragan: first off you have the primacy of branches mixed up [he referred to Congress as the Second branch of government]. Article ONE is about Congress. The Executive branch is in Article Two. Next you misunderstand the role of the president in domestic affairs: he has NONE other than to faithfully execute the law as passed by Congress. He has zero authority even to SUBMIT legislation; ALL LAWS must be passed by Congress. Prez has NO domestic authority & I dont care - nor does the Constitution - what his policies or priorities are. This is a REPRESENTATIVE REPUBLIC, and it is the REPRESENTATIVES of the PEOPLE who make policy & law. The prez only does what hes told to do by Congress. And if you want to know the obstruction there, well, Harry Reid is sitting on HUNDREDS of bills passed by the branch designed to be CLOSEST TO THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE: The House. So basically you have EVERYTHING WRONG. Id recommend studying the Constitution again. & if you decide then you prefer a dictator with a rubber-stamp legislative branch, Venezuela isnt far away.
