Representative Martha Roby This morning, the Benghazi Select - TopicsExpress

Representative Martha Roby This morning, the Benghazi Select Committee held its second public hearing to inquire about changes made to increase embassy security. Unfortunately, we learned that many high-threat posts are no safer now than when we began our investigation. I asked Steve Linick, the State Department Inspector General, if security personnel at high-threat posts had been properly vetted to which he responded, “No. We looked at 87 personnel files and none of them—none of the security contractors performed all of the vetting requirements.” This is extremely alarming, that even after the tragedy at our Benghazi embassy, local guards are not being properly vetted and trained for their high-risk posts. As I told Chairman Gowdy, this clearly shows that we have a severe security threat in very dangerous places where American lives are at stake. This is why the Select Committee’s investigation is crucial and why it will continue into 2015.
