Republic Day Arrangements discussed at Kathua. Kathua, January 5th :-District Development Commissioner, Kathua Shahid Iqbal Choudhary today convened a high level meeting of officers to discuss arrangements for the celebration of Republic Day, 2015 at Kathua. The meeting held at conference hall of DC Office Complex here at Kathua today. Chief Planning Officer, Kathua, Tehsildar Kathua, Executive Engineers of different works departments, District Officers including Police Officers, Officers from CRPF, Fire Department, Traffic, Principals of Government/ Private educational institutions were present in the meeting. The contingents from CRPF, District Police, Forest Protection Force, NSS, NCC boys and girls and tiny platoons from Government/private schools will participate in the march past where VIP will hoist the National Flag and will take salute at the Mega Parade. The day will start with the playing of Shahnai vadan and Patriotic songs by Information Department in the wee hours at Deputy Commissioner Office and SSP office, Kathua. It was decided in the meeting that the National Flag will be unfurled by the VIP at 10 am. Regarding other arrangements like security, sanitation, sitting, barricading, water and power supply, prize distribution, transportation and illumination, the DDC said committees comprising of district officers were framed to ensure adequate and proper arrangements well in time. Regarding presentation of cultural Programme on the occasion, the DDC directed the Cultural Programme Committee to outline the content of cultural programme on the Republic Day Besides physical activities, sports event will be also organized in the Republic Day function. It was decided in the meeting that rehearsal for the Republic Day-2015 will commence on 18th January’2015. It was also decided in the meeting that the important Government buildings will illuminated in the night of 26th of January, 2015. The DDC impressed upon the officers that the day be celebrated with fervor and gaiety. He further emphasized for maintaining close liaison between civil and police for smooth conduct of the function.
