Republicans now want to remove a provision in the ACA granting - TopicsExpress

Republicans now want to remove a provision in the ACA granting “employer contribution” to the healthcare premium for members of Congress. Republicans claim that Congress should be treated exactly the same as other American citizens and that they should receive no extra perks. Though I find it odd that they have chosen this precise moment to realize the validity of this position after enjoying inequitable perks for 200 years, I completely agree with their assertion. In keeping with this epiphany, I suggest Republicans also demand the following changes: 1 - The salary for each member of Congress shall be equal to the median income of the average American worker as indicated by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. 2 - Members of Congress will receive no automatic increases in salary. Congress may only receive a pay raise on the date that they increase the minimum wage for American workers. Said increase in Congressional salary is not to exceed the percentage by which the minimum wage is increased. (Example: minimum wage increases 2% from $9/hr to $9.18/hr. Congressional salary increases 2% from $50k/yr to $51k/yr.) 3 - If any member (or members) of any party causes the government to “shut down”, no member of Congress shall receive pay during the time the government is shut down. Congress will not be retroactively paid for time lost during the shutdown. All salary monies that would have been paid to Congress during the shutdown will be put into the Social Security fund belonging to the American tax payers. ============ Well, that’s my opinion, for starters! Anyone else have some changes you’d like to see?
