Request: please send me all the best information you have on talking to loved ones about white privelege, racism, and classism. im heartbroken. i never realized (though i should have) how many of my people (especially my utah people) have racist views. these are people who would never interact with another human in an intentionally harmful way. But their opinions and social pardigms are most certainly racist. theyre actually saying things to me, like, i voted for Obama, so im not racist, or, i have several minority friends. One of my dearest and oldest friends actually said, they [cops] cant help if the majority of people causing problems are colored. !!! i dont think facts & statistics are going to catalyze the opening of minds, and i feel ill-equipped to know how to communicate a more accurate paradigm to them without alienating them. please help me educate myself on this important communication issue! ty.
