Resala Ramadhan No.6 SAHUR The importance of sahur Suhoor is the feast that is full of blessing. On the authority of Anas Ibn Malik radiyallahu anhu, The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, “Take suhoor! because in every suhoor there is a blessing.” (Narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim) On the authority of Abu Hurairah radiyallahu anhu, The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, “Verily Allah has turned a blessing to every suhoor and measurement.” (Hadith is considered as hasan; and being narrated by ash-Shairazi in al-Alqab and at-Tabrani in the Musnad Syamiyin) Allah and the angels will give salawat to those who take suhoor. On the authority of Abu Hurairah radiyallahu anhu, The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, “Suhoor is the feast that full of blessing. Therefore, do not leave it behind, although you only drink one gulp of water. Verily, Allah and his angels give salawat to those who eat at the last hours of the night (suhoor).” (Narrated by Ahmad; considered sahih as Shu’aib al-Arnaut) Taking suhoor is one of the things that differ between our fasting in the fasting of ahl al-kitab (Christian and Jews) On the authority of Amr Ibn ‘As radiyallahu anhu, The Prophet said, “a distinction between our fasting and the fasting of Christian and Jews is taking suhoor.” (Narrated by Muslim) Dishes for suhoor On the authority of Abu Hurairah radiyallahu anhu, The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, “The best dishes for taking suhoor for the believers is tamr (dates).” (Narrated by Abu Daud, considered sahih by al-Albani) To take suhoor in the last hours of the nights before praying subuh On the authority of Abu Dhar radiyallahu anhu, The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, “My followers are always in the blessing while hastening themselves to break their fast and end the suhoor (taking it in the last hours of the night).” (Narrated by Ahmad) On the authority of Zaid Ibn Thabit radiyallahu anhu, he said, “We once took a suhoor with The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and he (The Prophet) performed dawn prayer.” Anas asked, What is the distance between the azan and the suhoor?” Zaid said, “It is around 50 verses.” (Narrated by al-Bukhari) Hearing the dawn (subuh prayer) azan while there is one plate of dish on one’s hand On the authority of Abu Hurairah radiyallahu anhu, The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, “If one hears the azan while there is still one plate of dish on his hand, then do not put it until he fulfils his needs.” (This hadith is hasan sahih; narrated by Abu Daud) Note: Whoever eats with a belief that the time is still night time, then he realized that it has entered the dawn time, then his fasting is still valid and no obligation to make it up. The suhoor time is a time to istighfar (duas for forgiveness) and pray Allah says, in which telling about the traits of people who go to paradise (which means), “(They are) those who are patient, those who are true (in faith, words, and deeds), and obedient with sincere devotion in worship to Allâh. Those who spend (give the zakah and alms in the way of Allah) and those who pray and beg Allah’s Pardon in the last hours of the night.” (Ali Imran: 17) Wallahu alam...
