TO HAVE INTENTION TO FAST BEFORE DAWN (SUBUH/FAJR) From Hafsah radiyallahu anha, The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, “Whoever has not intended to fast in the night (before dawn), therefore the fasting is invalid (vain).” (Narrated by al-Nasa’i; being considered as sahih by Al-Albani) Notes: Intention is a soul (internal) deed, as long as someone has an intention to fast before dawn (fajr) therefore he has been considered to have an intention. However, to recite the intention is considered as bid’ah (newly created affairs that has no example set by The Prophet). Wallahu alam
