Research Assistant Position innovation Research & Training (iRT), a behavioral sciences research company, in Durham, North Carolina, seeks a full-time Research Assistant to work on research projects in the area of media literacy for children and adolescents. iRT specializes in the development, evaluation, and dissemination of evidence-based prevention and intervention programs for youth. Job Description: Contribute to projects designed to develop, evaluate, and disseminate prevention programs for children and adolescents. Responsibilities will initially focus on participant recruitment and data collection for a randomized controlled trial of a substance abuse prevention program for families using a media literacy education approach. Additional responsibilities will include conducting scientific literature reviews; maintaining meeting minutes; contributing to prevention program development; assisting with data collection, coding, and entry; assisting with presentations, manuscript preparation, and grant writing; and providing assistance in general administrative and office work. Requirements: 1 or more years of research experience in psychology or related field. Must be an energetic, outgoing person with excellent interpersonal skills to lead recruitment and data collection efforts with families of elementary school-aged children living in rural areas in North Carolina. The position requires a flexible schedule and access to a car to be able to travel to rural counties adjacent to or near Durham. Knowledge of media literacy or substance abuse prevention a plus. The successful candidate will need to be familiar with all Microsoft Office programs as well as have strong writing and verbal communication skills.
