Research Roundable: ‘Street Children in Albania, Bosnia Herzegovina, Macedonia and Kosovo: Spaces and Identities in a Struggle for Survival’ On the 15 June 2013 the European University of Tirana organised a Research Roundtable. At the roundtable key findings of the RRPP supported research project ‘Street Children in Albania, Bosnia Herzegovina, Macedonia and Kosovo: Spaces and Identities in a Struggle for Survival’, were presented. Some of the key themes of the findings of the research project presented at the roundtable are: - the dynamics of the experience of the children in the spaces of the street and the ways in which they socialise and construct their identities vis-à-vis others (parents, peers, educators, social workers etc.); - the risks children face in the street and their survival strategies, i.e. resilience; lack of protection and limited social and family networks; - dislocation and marginalisation from mainstream society’ institutions such as education; - the need to break the cycle of deprivation of marginalisation; challenging dominant discourses on ‘children in street situation’; the challenges of conducting research with and about ‘children in street situation’; - the role of policy development in addressing the complex phenomenon. learn more: rrpp-westernbalkans.net/en/News/RRPP-Regional-Research-Project--Street-Children.html
