Research indicates that people over 60 years old need the same recommended 7-8 hours of sleep. Lack of sleep can make you sick. Over half the elderly population suffers from insomnia which is believed to be associated with inflammation throughout the body. Chronic inflammation can damage healthy cells and lead to disease. In a new study, UCLA researchers demonstrated that reducing insomnia can lead to decreased inflammation and that cognitive behavior therapy is superior to other forms of treatments for insomnia. bit.ly/insomniainelderly
