Research this week has determined, ChemFree shrimp is almost non-existent. Even when there isnt a shrimp strike, ChemFree shrimp can cost over $20 per pound, if available. Import and Louisiana Wild Caught Shrimp, is being treated with Sodium Polyphosphates for preserving. In often cases, abused for weight purposes. Louisiana Wild Caught Shrimp is also processed in the same plants as imports. Loose regulations can often lead to unfair and unethical packaging practices. Imports are allowed to be re-packaged with Louisiana Processed labeling. While in small print. you will find its place of origin. Most assume Louisiana Processed meant, Louisiana shrimp. This applies to the packaging of crabs and crawfish too. Our Federal and State agencies are not informing the public properly. I had no idea I was consuming chemically treated and imported seafood. I think this is an industry that needs to be re-evaluated, for the best interest of the public. Join me in demanding these practices be improved.
