Resent events have made me think. Generally speaking there is a lot of tension between Christians who believe in free will and those who believe in predestination. Or between those in the debate over Calvinism vs. Arminianism or however you would like to label it. There is a lot of arrogance coming from one side and a lot of animosity coming from the other and it makes me sick. We are, both sides, doing exactly the opposite of what the bible shows us. I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment. For it has been reported to me by Chloe’s people that there is quarreling among you, my brothers. What I mean is that each one of you says, “I follow Paul,” or “I follow Apollos,” or “I follow Cephas,” or “I follow Christ.” Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul? (1 Corinthians 1:10-13) Paul later calls us children for acting in this way. We can still hold to the separate doctrines we hold dear but lets do it in the spirit of the Gospel as laid out in Romans 15:4-7. For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God. (Romans 15:4-7) Lets lay aside our pride and anger and walk in step with the truth of the gospel. Lets, as the Church, work for harmony and unity in love. Because there really shouldnt be any sides in the family of God.
