Reservoir Dogs 1992 Pulp Fiction is without a doubt Quentin - TopicsExpress

Reservoir Dogs 1992 Pulp Fiction is without a doubt Quentin Tarantinos masterpiece. One of his first works however, was Reservoir Dogs which is seems like an exercise for it. Alot of his ideas he will later be known for are in this film. Like Pulp Fiction it does not follow a 3 act narrative structure and instead has many flasbacks to events in perspectives to the main roles. The story is about a bank robbery going wrong with a gang who like to wear suits. It is suspected that one of the members is a cop. This is mostly a good film but has much trouble finding things for the characters to do. Most of the film just has them shouting language at each other and never really goes anywhere. The performances are effective with what is going on. There is some brutal, bloody violence, like Pulp Fiction, another trademark that Tarantino will be known for and it might perhaps be a little more violent than Pulp Fiction. Like I said before, however, the film does have character issues and we do not get to know much about them except they are all in a gang and they know how to shoot and cuss. Reservoir Dogs is effective at times but in the end is just an exercise in style over substance but a dang good try it is so I give a mixed rating. 3/5
