Residents and Migrants in the Rainforest: Its always fun to see - TopicsExpress

Residents and Migrants in the Rainforest: Its always fun to see how the arrival of migrant birds stirs up our resident species. Here; a White Hawk. There; a Broad-winged Hawk. The White Hawk lives here year-round and rules his particular niche of this forest. The Broad-winged Hawk just arrived from the north, and for the 4th year running, has claimed this perch for it morning sunning and preening. Its interesting how the rain forest seems to be able to supply enough resources for the yearly arrival of millions of migrant birds. Yet, I wonder what pressure the resident birds have to face. One thing is fur sure, migrants stir up residents and there is lots of bird activity ramping up here lately... The Lodge at Pico Bonito, Honduras.
