Resident’s narrow escape A HOUSE owner can thank his lucky stars after he escaped serious injuries for the second time when a brick from a nearby construction site landed in his room. Neoh Eng Ban, 38, said he was away at work when the incident happened but his parents were at home. “My parents heard a crash in my room and were shocked to find a brick with some cement on it, lying on the floor. “I was lucky I was not in the room. I could have suffered serious injuries or could have even died,” he said, when contacted. Neoh said the incident happened about 1pm yesterday and that the construction site was just a stone’s throw away behind his house. He said this was not the first time he was almost hit by debris from the construction site. “A few months ago, a brick fell on my car and another brick landed in my neighbour’s house,” he add-ed. Neoh said he was not seeking any compensation from the developer of the condominium project, but merely wanted the concerned authority to look into the safety issue. “Let us not wait until someone gets seriously injured before something is being done about it,” he said. When contacted, Penang Municipal Council Building Department director Yew Tung Seang said he had already dispatched his officers to the scene to investigate the matter upon learning about the incident. “We will look into the matter immediately,” he said.
