Resilient. It is also an apt word to describe the people behind Leyte Dance Theater, whose members and staff were all affected by the typhoon in their home city of Tacloban. Under the leadership and tutelage of its artistic director and founder Jess De Paz, a world-renowned choreographer who studied at the Joffrey Ballet School in New York, the group hurdled the challenges thrown at them and delivered with flying colors. The tour has been a welcome break for the typhoon-weary members of the troupe. For some, it was a dream come true to perform on an American stage one city after the other. And for others, it was a way to thank their fellow Filipinos for their help and support during this most difficult time. -AJPress
