Resource Development Director to be hired! The Palmetto Trust for Historic Preservation is looking for that special someone that can help us grow and develop our membership/donor base so as to ensure a sustainable foundation of support for our preservation mission. We thought we would allow our thousands of friends on Facebook to have first crack at this position. This is an opportunity to leverage your love of preservation, love of people along with your proven marketing/communication skills (both online and personal) and create a resource development department for the organization that will grow and increase financial support in a way that will change the face of preservation across the state of South Carolina. Job Description: Develop, implement, and oversee a comprehensive strategic plan, to include: fundraising activities across all donor sectors in both unrestricted and restricted support for the organization. This includes major gifts, capital, annual fund/direct mail, planned giving and fund raising events. As part of senior management, assist the Executive Director in strategic and operational planning and policy development. Design, deploy and oversee all aspects of resource development. Establish and maintain positive, constructive relationships with Board members, donors, volunteers, corporations, foundations, media and community organizations to enhance Palmetto Trusts image, convey the organizations mission, and to facilitate revenue generation for the organization. Design, implement and manage all public and external efforts, including media activities, marketing and public relations, to increase the visibility in a manner that raises fundraising potential. Manage all activities associated with publications and other printed materials, including the annual giving campaign design and other appeals communications, newsletters, and annual reports. Develop annual work plan and budget; review, authorize, and document all expenditures within approved budget limits. Establish methods and procedures for development activities. Report on fundraising efforts. Maintain all development records. Manage the activities and events of the volunteer program. Submit required periodic reports and complete other stewardship obligations. Develop, write, and submit proposals for organizational funding to foundations, corporations, and other charitable sources. Encourage through personal example a positive and open style of leadership and communication. As requested, attend meetings of the Board and selected committees, providing information, reports and recommendations. Perform other related duties as required.
