Resource guarding is am issue that, unfortunately, many dog owners deal with. The good news is, it can be resolved. With the foundational work we do, we create a new relationship (leadership) with your dog by establishing rules, boundaries and structure. This includes reward, praise and consequences (once a new behavior has been learned, but not being followed). Once of the key elements in our foundational work is the place command. It requires the dog to stay on the assigned spot (rug, mat, cot, bed, towel, etc) until he/she is released. It helps your dog control impulse. It is just one factor in the process of gaining respect and showing respect.
