Response regarding my complaint about Hunts latest nonsense:- Dear Mr Davies, I am writing on behalf of the Party Chairman, The Rt Hon Grant Shapps MP, who has asked me to thank you for your recent email. It is good of you to get in touch and make us aware of your thoughts and concerns. It is appreciated and I will be sure to pass your comments on to the Chairmen. The Francis report into Mid Staffs hospital was a damning document that laid bare hard truths about needless deaths, tragic suffering, and a shocking lack of compassion for vulnerable, mainly older patients. Twelve months on, we cannot expect to have solved everything or to have completely transformed the culture of the country’s largest and finest institution. But we have seen a real shift in priorities – a new, independent Chief Inspector of Hospitals; 8,000 more doctors and nurses; and a stronger voice for patients, with compassionate care starting to replace tick-box targets as the major focus on boards and wards. Thanks to the difficult decisions we have taken on spending as part of our long-term economic plan, we have been able to increase NHS spending in real-terms. Our goal is safe and compassionate care as the hallmark of every hospital and experience of every single patient and their family.
