Rest In Peace – THOMAS DEVE So in many of my chameleonic roles –as the Herald would put it – I was the Chairman of MEDIA INSTITUTE TRUST (MISA)and Thomas Deve was the chairman of the Board and Rashweat Mukundwu was the executive director. I suspect we got to be “friends”, if I may be allowed to use the term though I was many years his junior. The man was easy to respect intellectually and far much easier to respect socially. Unlike many he remained a “ young man” trapped in an aging body, which probably struggled to contain his effervescence.Thinking came easy to him ,Idealogically he was far left of me –him a product of another era , but he never lost the empathy with fellow human beings. Where we disagreed the differences were amicably solved –with no hard and permanent feelings. We would live to agree another day. The words loss ,tragedy can hardly begin to describe it. All we can do is to say –on my behalf ,that of the MDC Renewal Team and the broader democratic forces –to the Deve family –we are sorry for you loss –and we stand poorer for it -May His Soul Rest in Everlasting Peace
