Rest in Peace Bella the kitty. I didnt know you but I gave your owners some closure. I Saw a lost cat ad with no description of where she was lost and a bad picture on my vets bulletin board will waiting our turn - almost 2 months ago she disappeared. Magnus and I just happened to walk right up to the critical cat in the brush at the end of the parking lot. She Had distemper or was poisoned or head trauma and super thin .( went inside vet, got the manager she said the same - she called AC to assist because of possible rabies or distemper - I got a can of cat food and went to look for her again. Then went inside and studied that ad that bothered me with no location and very bad picture- could it be? Hmmm. Called owner and asked her if she is a Siamese tabby mix with bright blue eyes (picture had closed eyes and black n white and dark) she started crying- yes she does and she lives 2 blocks away. She was working in Detroit til 7pm. I waited for the officer and went through the thicket in shorts filled with burrs and bug bites- we got her- took her picture and sent to owners phone- it was her cat - 7 weeks lost and looks like she has not eaten since then. wobbling and unable to focus) She needed an IV ASAP to even have a chance - pupils fixed/ non responsive to me- neurological issues She is safe now. No dying outside. AC was a wonderful man and agreed to leave her at the vet after I facilitated between the owner and the vet manager - owner needed to come ASAP to start treatment. Bella almost went into cardiac arrest with us catching her - soft soothing words helped calm her down enough to breath as I stroked her foot and repeated her name softly and told her she was ok- you are safe. Sadly she died before they could get an IV in her arm. The owners rescued her 4 years ago - dumped 1/2 mile down in a McDonalds parking lot- her husband feed her daily for a week to gain her trust and caught her. Not the ending we wanted but I glad they will have her private ashes and her paw print. I cried with her owner over the phone -tragic - she was probably a block away for 7 weeks and no one knew it. Please take lengths to keep your precious pets inside and heaven forbid they find a way to get out- put food and personal belongings outside your house and close by businesses and a live trap and check often. Most lost pets stay within a mile or less of your home. Rest in Peace Bella- you were loved and missed.
