Rest in peace Papaw Morgan! We love & miss you so much! EARL LEWIS MORGAN POUND, VA- Earl Lewis Morgan, 87, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday April 3, 2014 from the Norton Community Hospital after an extended illness. He was surrounded by his loving family. Lewis was a child of God, he was former welder for US Steel/Arch Minerals for nearly 30 years, he was a member of the United Mine Workers of America and a veteran of the United States Army having served during WWII. Earl was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Edell Potter Morgan; his second wife, Audrey Mullins Morgan; a son Phillip Morgan; his parents, Earl Lewis Morgan, Sr. and Sally (Bailey) Morgan; son-in-law, Gary Roberts; grandchildren, Libby Cantrell and Jonathan Roberts; step-grandson, Preston Dingus; and a brother Jim Morgan. Survivors include his sons, Tim Morgan and wife Donna-Wise, VA and Ben Morgan and wife Sherry-Pound/Tazewell, VA; his daughters, Gail Roberts- Pound, VA, Kay West and husband Donnie- Pound, VA and Kathy Kelly and husband Denny-Spotsylvania, VA; step-daughters, Renee Brock-Charleston, SC, Moneka Wilson-Duffield, VA and Shelly Wilson; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; A sister, Jerline Montgomery-Clover, SC; several nieces, nephews and cousins, and a host of friends and loved ones to mourn his passing and cherish his memory. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 pm Saturday April 5, 2014 in the Sadie Baker Memorial Chapel with the Elder Donnie West and Elder Stacy Potter officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until time of services. Pound VFW Post 9600 will conduct military graveside services Sunday April 6, 2014 in the Riley Mullins Cemetery- Pound, VA where grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home by 1:00 pm for a prayer service before going in procession to the cemetery.
