Rest in peace, Richard Attenborough. Most people will remember him - TopicsExpress

Rest in peace, Richard Attenborough. Most people will remember him as the old man from Jurassic Park, but he was acting as far back as 1942. His first ever role was in the British wartime film that year, In Which We Serve, directed by Noel Coward and David Lean (two very, very famous names over there on that side of the pond). He also had a small role one of my all-time favorite British movies, the 1946 Powell & Pressburger film, A Matter of Life and Death (a.k.a. Stairway to Heaven). In 1960 and 1962 he showed up in two films by the highly under-appreciated British filmmaker Basil Dearden: The League of Gentlemen and All Night Long, respectively. And then he was in the famous American film The Great Escape in 63 (he played Big X). And those are only the ones Ive seen. He was a face in cinema for over 60 years, quite a long time.
