Restore the Covenant and Renew the Power to Get Wealth September 19, 2013 Deuteronomy 8:11–20 Key Verse: Deuteronomy 8:18 You shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day. Why don’t Christians generate wealth in large numbers? The answer is in Deuteronomy. We have broken our covenant with God—we broke our promise and severed our agreement. The Lord will not help us when we are out of covenant, so we lose the power to get wealth! We must reestablish our covenant with Him through repentance and true obedience to His Word. God clearly explained that the “power to get wealth” is crucial to His kingdom so that “He may establish His covenant.” God wants unsaved people around you to notice how He blesses you and how much you bless others with those blessings! The world says you become wealthy by focusing exclusively on the accumulation of money while ignoring everything else. We do things differently in God’s kingdom. He says we accumulate wealth by focusing upon Him and His kingdom; and rather than hoard and reinvest our earnings, we are to give them away as fast as we can! The growth of our assets does not depend so much upon compounding interest or profit margins as it does upon the faithfulness of God. It is time to remember God and to remind ourselves who it is who gives us power to get wealth. When we do this, He will bless us so we can establish His covenant in the earth and build His kingdom. Prayer Holy Father, I am bringing everything to a halt right now. I repent for forgetting You in all my frantic works and struggle to get ahead. In this moment I arrest every thought, still my heart, and focus my eyes upon You alone. You are the Source of my strength and ability; You give me my creative ideas and the power to succeed. My life is Yours, and You are my Hope and Song. I know You will bless me so I can demonstrate the power of Your kingdom covenant right in the middle of my world. In Jesus’ name I praise You, amen.
