Restricted Breeds -- Do you wonder where all of these dogs are coming from when you see them dumped into kill shelters across the nation? They are coming from foreclosures and the loss of homes by owners who cannot take them into their new apartment homes because increasingly apartments have created extensive (restricted) breed lists. What can we do about it? We can help our already stressed pet owners to keep their dogs by encouraging them to take their dogs to Rescue Groups, friends, family and to get them trained as Service Dogs who are committed to doing good within their community. This will not only turn a bad situation for the restricted breed owner, but will do two other positive things; 1. Put a positive face on the restricted breed in a way that no amount of protests can do - we must (show) them that restricting particular breeds is wrong and an unnecessary reaction to the (breed) who is not responsible for (bad) owners. 2. Allow the owner to keep their restricted breed and take them into their new and (homeless) future into the world of apartments. I am firmly committed to the idea that we can turn this around if we (understand) our options and are willing to do what is necessary to change the overwhelming negative opinions into positive legislative that empowers restricted breed owners to demonstrate that (their) dog is not a (killer) or (monster) but a thoughtful, gentle and committed positive contributing member of society! Share this far & wide to ensure that (restricted) breed owners know all of their options prior to dumping their beloved friend into a kill shelter; which is no friend of these great dogs and pets. Help them to get their dogs trained and certified as Service Dogs and ensure that they change the community view of these dogs as (bad) and inherently (dangerous.) Thank you for thinking! Belinda
