Restrictions in Srinagar on Modi’s visit Srinagar, Dec 8 (KNS): Authorities Monday imposed restrictions in several areas of Srinagar “to prevent any untoward incident during Prime Minister’s Narendra Modi’s rally.” Modi addressed his first election rally in Srinagar amid thick security cover and a general strike called by separatists. Police had sealed all roads leading to the venue while sources told KNS Army had pressed Unmanned Aerial Vehicles into service for the PM visit. Reports said security forces had taken positions at sensitive points on high rise buildings around PM’s rally venue with sharp shooters deployed at the high-rise buildings around rally venue. Police and paramilitary CRPF had erected barricades at scores of places across the city to monitor movement of vehicles and pedestrians. They had blocked roads leading to Sher-i-Kashmir Stadium and no vehicle was allowed to move towards nearby Sonwar area. The forces had laid concertina wire at dozens of places in the city to restrict the movement of people. Police had also blocked roads at Pantha Chowk and traffic from south Kashmir and Jammu was diverted via Bypass.
