Restrictions in old Srinagar today Srinagar, July 13: Authorities have decided to impose restrictions on public movement in areas of old Srinagar on Saturday as the separatist groups have called for march to the Martyrs Graveyard at Naqshband Sahab (RA) shrine here. Chairmen of both factions of Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Geelani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, have called for parallel marches to the Martyrs Graveyard to pay tributes to the martyrs of July13, 1931. An official spokesman said while Section 144, which bars assembly of more than four people, is already imposed in Srinagar, there would be restrictions in old city areas on Saturday to foil the plans of separatist leaders.“Section 144 would be implemented strictly on Saturday,” the spokesman said. A senior police official said if the people are allowed to visit the Martyrs Graveyard, it might lead to law and order problem. He said most of the separatist leaders would be put under house arrest to stop them from marching towards the Naqshband Sahab (RA) shrine. Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani continues to remain under house arrest since his return from New Delhi in March this year while as Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was put under house arrest Thursday evening. He was barred from offering congregational Friday prayers at Jamia Masjid here. Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Shalinder Kumar told Kashmir that there would be no curfew on Saturday.
