Results, Day 3 – U17 (Cadet) Nationals. Last day of the competition, and another individual medal, and GOLD and silver team medals! In Men’s Epee, with a large field of 42, Lachlan Crook won a Bronze medal, improving on his 5th in the U15 competition. Edward Beanland should also be congratulated for achieving 5th place in such a large field. Team events – Women’s Foil was first up and another GOLD to Queensland, in a field of 6. The final against NSW was a very tight match and the score see-sawed back and forth, coming down to the very last bout before QLD drew ahead for the win. In the Men’s Epee Team event, QLD ‘A’ fought through the field of 9 to meet Victoria ‘A’ in the final. All the bouts were close, but the VIC team slowly drew ahead and we had to settle for 2nd. And that’s all, folks. Congratulations to NSW for winning the overall points trophy, to all the DTs, referees and volunteers who worked so hard throughout the tournament, and most of all to the Qld Tour Managers, Coaches, Armourers and helpers for yet again braving five full days with a group of teenagers armed with swords.
