Rovers almost took the lead early in the game when 2 clear-cut chances falling to Jordan Lynn, however good goalkeeping kept the score all square and Ballyclare almost themselves took the lead but somehow failed to take advantage from close range when the goal was gapping. Both teams had to fight against the elements in a freezing cold temperatures and strong winds making good football difficult, clear-cut chances were limited and both teams went in at the interval nil nil. Second half, with the wind at their backs Rovers knew they had the advantage and used it to keep Ballyclare pressed deep into their own half. The pressure finally paid off when the ref awarded a penalty to Rovers after Emmett Murray,a constant thorn in the Ballyclare sides, was fouled inside the box. Jordan Critcher stepped up to calmly slot the ball home putting Rovers into the lead. This settled the away side and they were able to produce some of the better quality of football playing short intricate passing and movement of the ball. Rovers second goal came when Reece Sloan latched onto a through ball to go around keeper and slot the ball home. And soon after, the points were secured when an excellent finish by Dylan Robb from just inside the box best the keeper and endured the points were coming home to Antrim. Though Ballyclare did pull 2 goals back later on in the game, Rovers held on in the last nervy few minutes securing another 3 vital points in their first season in the Premier division of their age group. Moes Grill man of the match went to Eamyn Oueslati for an outstanding display at the heart of the Rovers defence. U15 Rovers u15 took on Ballysillan Swifts in a top of the table clash at the Grove today Rovers sufferd a 3-1 defeat in a match that they didnt deserve to loose. The 1st half was all Rovers as they dominated the play with the wind at their backs Rovers played great pass and move football and took the lead when a great crossfield ball from Karol Olchawaski to Nathan Crawford saw the winger skin his marker and deliver a perfect ball to the feet of Ronan Gribben who stroked the ball home Rovers continued to dominate with Jay Burton and Ryan Mckimm controling the midfield and Aaron Mcnielly was a constant menace to Ballysillan defenders . Second half saw Ballysillan use the strong winds to their advantage as they choose to play the long ball forward but Rovers should have went 2-0 up but to everyones shock Big Liam Mckernan missed the target from 10 yards out the big lad is usually lethal when through on goal Rovers sufferd another blow when influential midfielder Ryan Mckimm had to leave the field with a hip injury, shortly afterwards Ballysillan equalized and this opened up the game as they started to put pressure on Rovers backline who sufferd more woe as left back William Melville had to retire through injury. Ballysillan took the lead after a goal mouth scramble and would have went further ahead minutes later but for the excellence of Jamie Sempey in the Rovers goal with Rovers pushing forward for a deserved equalizer they were caught on the break and went 3-1 down then the lively Nathan Crawford had to come off due to injury. The 3-1 score line certainly flatterd Ballysillan a fact their manager openly admitted too. Best for Rovers were Jamie Sempey who once again proved why he is the best keeper in the league with a string of top drawer saves in the 2nd half Jay Burton and Ronan Gribben who showed his versatility as he played in 3 different positions today to cover a squad decimated by injuries to key players.
