Results and selected reports from todays action: Antrim Rovers (u11s) 0 - 4 Lurgan Town (U11s) Despite suffering what on paper seems a heavy defeat the young Rovers team came away feeling that they had played well and certainly did not deserve this scoreline. The team from Lurgan certainly deserved to win but maybe not with this scoreline. Rovers suffered an early set back when first choice centre back David took sick before the game meaning a reshuffle at the back. Rovers started brightly and the game was fairly even with both teams creating chances only for Lurgan to take two of their chances and be two up at half time. Striker David had a chance on the stroke of half time but slid the ball wide from close range. Antrim Rovers continued to match their opponents but could not find a way past a very big and organised defence. Adam in midfield had been pulling strings for his team before having to come off with an injury. Eventually Lurgan began creating more chances with goalkeeper Marcus pulling of a string of excellent saves with one particular save that was breathtaking. The pressure finally told and Lurgan scored two late goals to put a rather unfair look to the score line. Full back Ryan had his usual solid game, Lewis and Adam played well in midfield when given the opportunity and Marcus was excellent in goal. Man of the Match went to Ethan the team captain who played out of position at centre back but still tried to get his team on the front foot with some fine passing out of the back. Despite the scoreline the coaching team feels extremely proud of the lads today and feel that after some really heavy defeats that todays match represents progression for the young side who have made a big step up to the Lisburn League. Antrim Rovers 0-3 Carnmoney Colts Antrim rovers u13-carnmoney colts at diamond rathcool, rovers started well again playing some nice football but carnmoneys back four closed us down ,calum lecky made a lovely run down the left wing hitting a shot but keeper caught it,carnmoney kept pressing forward, our back four tried hard to keep them out but got a few shots at our goal. jack murrey made some very good saves in goal, but we made a few mistakes and carnmoney punished rovers with three good goals ,rovers put in a very good effort but i am disappointed for the boys they all played really well. Rovers 1 Carryduff 4 Rovers search for their first league win of the season continues after todays disappointing result. Whilst the young lads did at least improve their first half performance or was unfortunately the second half which saw all points go to the visitors. Carryduff opened the scoring with their first foray into Rovers half on the 15 minute mark after it had been constant attack from the Antrim team from kick off. Though a deserved equaliser from Reece Sloan brought the game level, unfortunately for both Rovers and young Sloaner, he departed the game soon after, sustaining an injury later confirmed as a buckled fracture of the wrist! Both teams went back out for the 2nd half but it was clear that Carryduff had more to offer than Rovers and soon went ahead after a little hesitance within the Rovers ranks. The closest Rovers came to scoring was a free kick taken by Dylan Robb which went narrowly wide. Moes Grill Man of the match: Dylan Robb. Rovers under 15s took on Bangor Rangers at 3 mile water today and were dissapointed to come away with a point after a 2-2 draw in a thrilling game. Rovers pressurised Bangor from the off and created a succession of goal scoring chances that went begging, Liam Mckernan again caused havoc up front with his powerful physique and ability to hold the ball up alongside the hard working Karol Olchawski giving the Bangor centre backs a torrid time . Mckernan opened the scoring for Rovers after centre back Marc Chann glanced a header goalwards from a great cross from left back Adam Walker. Rovers were caught napping minutes later and Bangor got the equalizer, Rovers created chance after chance inspired by midfield terrier Ryan Mckimm who coverd every blade of grass in a super performance , Aaron Mcnielly worked his socks off on the left wing and provided a great supply to the front men. Bangor took the lead with an excellent strike that went in of the post the game was end to end and keith Millar was inches away from converting a Mckernan cross , Olchawaski was clean through on goal to see the Bangor keeper pull of a wonder save, Rovers never gave up but nearly conceded a third but for the reflexes of Jamie sempey arguably the best keeper in the league , the determined effort paid off when Karol Olchawski stroked the ball home for a much deserved equalizer after a fantastic run and cross from right back Adam Rutherford.
