Results of elections in Bohemia and Moravia الانتخابات النيابية في جمهورية بوهيميا ومورافيا (تشيكيا) Numerical results In total, the following 7 parties crossed the 5pct threshold: 1- CSSD (social Democrats) 20.45%, 50 MPs (out of 200) 2- ANO (a new subject, populists) 18.65%, 47 MPs 3- KSCM (=CPBM, communist party) 14.91%, 33 MPs 4- TOP 09 (strongly neoliberal, newly formed for the elections 2010, 5- Schwarzenberg, Kalousek) 11.99% 26 MPs 6- ODS (Civic democratic party, traditional right wing, Klaus, Topolanek, Necas) 7.7% 16 MPs 7- Usvit (a new subject, populists) 6.88%, 14 MPs, KDU-CSL (Christian democrats) 6.78% 14 MPs - The personal party of the President Zeman (SPOZ) got 1.51% of vote and will not be represented (as is also true for Greens - 3.19% and Pirates 2.66%, and, luckily, also for extreme neoliberals SOS with 2.46% and racists DSSS w. 0.86%). Highlights: - rather poor result of CSSD (in particular when compared to high expectations) - good result of CPBM (increase in total of votes, for the first time since 2002) - suprisingly good result for ANO, giving this party (established by a billionaire, he is probably himself a bit surprised) a good chance to participate in government (although this was obviously not the original plan, the founder is aiming on the next elections with a goal to get majority himself) - return of Christian democrats to the Parliament - exceptionally poor result for ODS, which can lead to its dissolution or disintegration - success of Usvit (Dawn), a party formed by another rich man (of Japanese descent, one of the former presidential candidates). The party declared as its main targets to push the principles of direct democracy and the law about referendum (which sounds positive), but on the other hand its founder had have several times racist and xenophobic remarks (might sound a bit strange, but they were directed against non-adaptable people, which is the politically correct code for Roma in Czech politics). Developments after elections First debates have shown a certain possibility of formation of the government dominated by CSSD, with participation of KDU-CSL and either tolerance or participation of ANO. (ODS, TOP forming the opposition from right, CPBM from teh left and Usvit manoeuvring.) Day after the elections the narrower Board of the CSSD (they have actually three: gremium, presidium and central executive board), this was the presidium, asked the President of the CSSD, B. Sobotka to resign and removed him from the 4-membered negotiating team. This was widely seen (in general public and in media) as and atentate orchestrated by the former CSSD president Zeman (as it was proposed by his people in the party, and most probably after a clandestine visit of these people just after the election). This caused a turmoil within the CSSD and it may possibly lead to its split or, at least to a debilitating incapacitation. (This could be a true plan of Zeman, who might in this way start a constitutional crisis and prolong the recent governance by his nonpartisan, non-elected government headed by Prime Minister Rusnok, which never got a confidence vote. It is well possible that this was his plan B in case his own party will not be successful.) Executive Committee of KSCMs CC Statement on the Result of Lower House of CzechRepublics Parliament The Executive Committee of KSCMs CC, on behalf of the whole Communist Party of Bohemia & Moravia, gives its thanks to all the electorate, who have given their votes to the party in the early parliamentary election. The Communist Party of Bohemia & Moravia has received more than 100 thousand votes more than in the 2010 election. We consider the expressed trust on our party in very serious manner. It is obvious the Communist Party of Bohemia & Moravia has been chosen mostly by the Left-wing voters, who have striven to reach essential change. The Communist Party of Bohemia & Moravia is ready now to conduct negotiations about changing both the manner and the content of governing with every party to be elected into Lower House. This aim has been presented, just before the election, by all the subjects. Now we will see whether it wasnt only the wild campaign promises as it had been in some cases before. As for the Communist Party of Bohemia & Moravia, its basic starting points for after-election negotiations are its programme priorities. Above all, they are the measures to start economic growth and to decrease the current unemployment rate, to implement progressive taxation, to enforce the laws given to the financial disclosure reports as well as to the general referendum, to promote both the Church Restitutions Bill and the second pillar of the pension system to be abolished.
