Results on Star Wars - The Phantom Menance: George Lucas is out of his poodoo fing mind. I know Im 15 years late with this, but.... 1. He essentially repackaged every plot device from the the first and some from the third movie, and dressed it with a jaw dropping amount of politics that even I had trouble following. Who the hell cares about trade embargoes and senate votes of no confidence in a Star Wars film ? Talk about boring up a movie and making it so unfun. 2. Jar Jar Binks - about as poor a character choice in just about every aspect as Ive ever seen, from mannerisms, to voice, to design to everything. Same goes to just about every CGI animated creature, curiously poor attempts. 3. The CGI made it feel like faux Star Wars, or some other story just borrowing light sabers and jedis. Terrible use of his own creations, kind of felt in turns overthought or underthought, continually missing the mark. Just so clowny and uninteresting. 4. Whats with the incredibly asian stereotypical viceroys ? Wait, what is a viceroy exactly ? 5. The whole thing seemed like it was crapped out and dressed up to be cool. It wasnt. Lamely and cheaply directed, very hollow. 6. Interesting characters like Darth Maul were horribly underused. Tough to believe Anakin is going to turn out to be such a stinker (Darth Vader). His cute lil scampy characterization is better suited for Oliver Twist. 7. Wanted so much more human drama and connection and concern between Anakin and his mother, especially when its time for him to leave her. (Essentially Anakin: Uh this strange jedi dude is taking me and Im leaving now, like..forever Mom: yok bye.) 8. The young actor playing Anankin. After awhile I couldnt take him or his supposed acting anymore. His scenes flying around in his spaceship near the end were almost unwatchable, though his script writer gave him nothing to begin with. 9. Incredible amount of cheese moments made at completely inappropriate times, I think fashioned to create humor but failed horribly in the moment. Just kept shaking my head. 10. I get C3PO and R2D2 are parts of the coolness/comforts of Star Wars. Completely shoehorned in here, and even then wasted. 11. Favorite moments - The Podrace sequence was pretty cool (although Greg Proops fs it up with a Gawd awful CGI character to voice), and I like Darth Mauls Bo-Saber. Like Natalie Portman/Keira Knightly Queen riffs and some of the costume designs were neat. That was about it. 11. This was like...not Star Wars. A terrible miss. On to the next one !
