Chimney Rock has long been interpreted as a frontier of Chaco, concepts developed from contemporary views influenced by the American frontier experience. Recent archeological theory is redefining that idea. On Friday, July 18, at 7 pm, in Aztec Ruins Visitor Center, archeologist Michelle Turner will extrapolate on this subject. Her lecture revisits traditional interpretations of Chimney Rock and reconsiders it as a place where indigenous traditions may have persisted alongside Chacoan ways.
