Retreating Might Be a Defensive Skill But It Needs an Offensive - TopicsExpress

Retreating Might Be a Defensive Skill But It Needs an Offensive Approach: When an athlete retreats using a Hip Turn into a shuffle or crossover, or if they backpedal it is normally a technique to be able to stay in good defensive position as to not allow the offensive player an advantage- Then be able to make a play on the ball or opponent. If retreating is met with the following 3 things it now becomes an offensive approach: 1. Effecient and Aggressive Technique 2. Intelligent Tactical Positioning 3. A Calculated Anticipatory Approach When a defender is confident in her or his approach and ability they now become less Defensive minded and more Offensive minded. Keep developing technique so the physcial aspect isnt the weak link. Now you can work on the mental aspect to develop a defensive stopper! Train Smart!
