Return presidency’s $1.2m, Oyo APC tells Ladoja THE All Progressives Congress (APC), Oyo State chapter, has asked former governor of Oyo State, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, to return a cash of $1.2 million which he allegedly received from the presidency to mobilise voters in the state to support the re- election bid of President Goodluck Jonathan in the February 28, 2015 polls. The remark was contained in a statement issued in Ibadan on Sunday and signed by the APC State Director of Publicity, Olawale Sadare. The cash was said to have been delivered to Ladoja in partial fulfilment of the pledge made by the president in exchange for the former governor’s agreement to work for the electoral success of Dr Goodluck Jonathan. The APC said that the need for Ladoja to refund the money became imperative due to the way he (Ladoja) had been trying to distance himself from the president. “Check his interview with the Tribune on Sunday. He denied having any pact with the president. When asked whether he had been campaigning for the president, he denied ever doing so. If he was reluctant to identify with Jonathan in the public, why collecting his dollars, with which he has been shoring the financial base of the Accord Party after his financiers, whom he refused to give tickets, abandoned his party and funding dried up?” the APC asked. Meanwhile, the Director General, Ladoja Campaign Organisation, Honourable Adeolu Adeleke, has said any statement issued by the APC chairman should not be taken serious. Adeleke described the allegation as false and unfounded, and that the APC chairman has lost touch with reality. The former speaker said with the allegation of N500million allegedly returned by Ladoja having fallen flat on its face and the APC-led government propaganda exposed, the current falsehood of N1.2billion presidential largesse was another way to smear the soaring popularity of Ladoja. He queried why the APC chairman had to wait till Ladoja exposed his party and its deceit in his interview published on Sunday for him to conjure up an allegation against the man who has become “the political nemesis” of APC and its candidate, Senator Abiola Ajimobi.” “Ladoja never received money from President Jonathan. Accord is a masses-run party and does not believe in doling out money like APC and others. It is a party of the masses and they are the ones running it. Accord has become a mass movement,” Adeleke said.
