Returned to my roots today. Mom is transitioning to assisted living and there was a going away party for her today. I made a short drive back toward my beloved 15 Mile Creek and found paved roads and 50 or more houses where there should have been only 3 (and with two of them abandoned) on a dirt road.. At one point the new road made a sharp turn to the left..... here I could just make out the remnants of the old road I used to walk to fish at Timberlanding. I didnt have time to walk down to see the creek but in spite of the changes up on the hill, Im betting my old fishing holes look just the same as when I fished there 45 years ago and the same as they did when my Daddy fished there 90 years ago. I might just try to find out one day. On a lighter note I went to a farm market in Metter and bought 8 pounds of genuine, Red Valencia green peanuts (go ahead have your fun with the Red/green thing...Im red/green colorblind) but all being well there will be boiled peanuts in my life tomorrow. Back when I was a boy we sometimes had boiled peanut suppers that consisted of nothing but boiled peanuts and sweet tea. I cant drink tea anymore but all being well gonna have a feast tomorrow evening just the same!
