Rev Cde Canon James Arthur Calata A husband. A teacher. A Priest. A father. A grand father. A working class cadre. A freedom fighter. An auther. The founder of St James Anglican Church. Cde James Calata was born in 1895 in Nxarhuni, and he taught at St Mathews college at Kieskamma Hoek at Grahamstown. He started St James Anglican church in Craddock in the old location just before removals. Cde James Canon Calata was leading in African National Congress and he became the general secretary of ANC in 1939 to the late 50s and in 1956 he was amongest Rivonial trialists. Cde James Canon Arthur Calata composed my revolutionary songs to an extent he founded a Congress choir and a rugby team calle The Blues. Cde Rev Calata was a community based leader, assisting and participating in many community activities and creating projects. He groomed many revolutionary leaders amongst them was cde Charles Nqakula, the author and poet Prof. PETER MTUZE.
